Wanda Jean Wilhelm, 81, Macy, passed away at 10:05 p.m. on Thursday, July 2, 2026, at Dukes Memorial Hospital, Peru.
Born February 3, 1945, in Rochester, Indiana, she was the daughter of Nelson G. and Rosellen Minerva Dickson Hunter. On February 16, 1964, in Rochester, Indiana, she was married to Richard Lee Wilhelm, and he survives.
Wanda graduated from Rochester High School in 1963. She was a member of the Macy Christian Church, where she enjoyed fellowship with the ladies and helping decorate the church. She was an avid puzzler, both jigsaw and puzzle books. She spent many hours behind the sewing machine making beautiful dresses, spectacular Halloween costumes, and crafting many different projects with her family and friends. She had a selfless heart and loved being able to help others whenever she was called serve, whether it was with a project, a dish of homemade food, or even a gallon of blood; she was always there!
She loved gathering her family together, listening to their stories, and preparing different items in the kitchen for her loved ones to enjoy. As a dedicated grandmother, she hosted sleepovers, Easter egg hunts, Christmas dinners, attending sporting events and grandparent-days, and being there for whatever she could to support and show her love for the grandkids.
Survivors include her husband, Richard Wilhelm, Macy; five children, Vicki (Tom) Davis, Sikeston, MO; Angela (Kevin) Conley, Macy; Jared (Jennifer) Wilhelm, Perrysburg; Laura (Jeremy) Sampsel, Otsego, MI; Kendra (Jason) Lozano, Akron; fifteen grandchildren; many great-grandchildren and bonus great-grandchildren; brother, Larry Hunter, North Webster; sister, Patsy Rowe, Monticello; and many nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and her siblings, Dean Hunter, Lynda McCloughan, and Kay Eiler.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, July 9, 2026, at McClain Funeral Home, Denver, Indiana. Burial will follow in Plainview Cemetery, Macy.
