Violet Orma (Wellsand) Rody

Violet Orma Rody, 77, Denver, Indiana, passed away at 1:01 p.m. on Monday, April 20, 2020, at her residence.

Born April 29, 1942, in Northwest Indiana, she was the daughter of Schuyler Karl and Orma Lucy Sandberg Wellsand.  On December 11, 1959, at the Denver Baptist Church, she was married to Paul David Rody, and he preceded her in death on August 30, 2012.  

Violet was a longtime member of the Denver, Indiana, community. She enjoyed animals and going to garage sales.

Survivors include two children, Mike Rody and his wife Linda, Denver; Jane Tafoya and husband Mike, Wasilla, Alaska; five grandchildren, Kelly Maynard, Kent Ireland, both of Denver; Leeanne Rody, Lafayette; Lacy Schwenk, Akron; and Betsy Tafoya, Wasilla, Alaska; fourteen great grandchildren; two sisters, Minnie Eckelbarger, Peru; and Shirlee Murphy, Denver; and one brother, William (Peggy) Wellsand, Denver.

She was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Gladys Orma Rody, and one granddaughter, Erin Rody Greer. 

Private burial will be in Westlawn Cemetery, Denver, Indiana.  A public memorial service will be planned following the national health emergency.
