Steven Lee Jones

Steven Lee Jones, 69, Galveston, passed away at 2:14 p.m. on Monday, October 28, 2019, at his home.

Born April 11, 1950, in Peru, Indiana, he was the son of William G. “Bill” Jones and Jane Lunsford Jones.  On July 27, 1969, in Galveston, Indiana, he was married to the former Marianne Burkholder, and she survives.

Steve graduated from Lewis Cass High School in 1968 and worked at Chrysler for thirty-three years before retiring on November 1, 2002.

Steve was an avid sports fan and loved attending all sporting events at Lewis Cass, where he was a Hall of Fame inductee and volunteered to work track and field events for many years.  In high school, he played baseball, football, track and field, and basketball.  He excelled on the basketball court and went on to play at William Penn College on a scholarship.

In addition to his wife, Marianne Jones, Galveston, he is survived by two sons, Eric Jones, Kokomo; and Cory (Karen) Jones, Walton; grandchildren, Kyrstin, Emmy, Addie, Tori, Lauren (Drew), and Chloe; great-grandchildren, Ryker, Bryson, and Gracelyn; and one brother, Kim (Debbie) Jones, Marion.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and one son, Bradley Jones.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 3, 2019, at McClain Funeral Home, with Pastor Bruce Mughmaw officiating.  Burial will follow in Corinth Cemetery, Twelve Mile.

Visitation will be from 3-7:00 p.m. on Saturday at the funeral home.
