John H. Hoagland

John H. Hoagland, 77, Twelve Mile, Indiana, passed away at 7:00 a.m. on Sunday, August 8, 2021, at his residence.

Born November 25, 1943, in Macy, Indiana, he was the son of John Richard Hoagland and the former Miriam Louise Cover.  On January 4, 1965, in Mexico, Indiana, he was married to Dianne Avery, and she survives.

He was a veteran of the United States Navy, serving from 1961-1964.  He was retired from Chrysler Corporation in Kokomo and had previously worked for Wilson Foods from 1969-1994, and Federal Mogul for several years.  He enjoyed fishing, hunting, playing Euchre, and traveling.  He was a self-appointed chauffeur and enjoyed driving family and friends to appointments out of town and would usually enjoy a great time of fellowship over a meal before heading home. 

Survivors include his wife Dianne Hoagland, Twelve Mile; two daughters, Suzie Jones, Muncie; Ruth (Carl) Glesige, Eads, TN; four grandchildren, all of Muncie, Shelby Neeley; Johnathon Neeley; Bethany Neeley (fiancé, Steven McGriff); and Bradley Jones; one sister, Anna Garrison, Peru; several nieces and nephews; and three sisters-in-law, Nancy Anderson, Warren, PA; Cheryl Avery, Clarion, PA; and Ruth (Barry) Troutman, New Bethlehem, PA.

He was preceded in death by his father, John Richard Hoagland; mother and step-father, Miriam and Ralph Gordon; one brother, Terry Hoagland; one sister/brother-in-law, Suzie (Jerry) Raymond; one son-in-law, Scott Neeley; three brothers-in-law, Paul McAllister, Mel “Red” Garrison, and Don Anderson; and one nephew, Tom Anderson.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, August 13, 2021, at McClain Funeral Home, Denver, Indiana, with Pastor Cole Westwood officiating.  Burial will follow in Fulton Cemetery, Fulton, Indiana.

Visitation will be from 4-7:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 12, 2021, at the funeral home.
