Bernard Eugene Burns, 79, Macy, passed away on Monday, October 12, 2020, at his residence.
Born December 6, 1940, in Peru, Indiana, he was the son of Robert Thomas and Cora Lillian (Scott) Burns. On March 20, 1970, at the Perrysburg Baptist Church, he was married to Diane Marie Linn, and she survives.
He was a graduate of Peru High School. He was the owner/operator of Burns Tire and Burns Fish Fry. He was a member of the former Perrysburg Baptist Church and had attended Olive Branch Church. He was a United States Army Veteran and a member of the Macy Masonic Lodge; he enjoyed attending auctions, cooking, and spending time with his family. For several years, he volunteered with the Liberty Township Fire Department.
Survivors include his wife, Diane Burns, Macy; four children, R.D. (Rachel) Burns, Macy; Bridget Hite, Plymouth; and Aaron Burns; Shelly Maness (Jr. Norris), Macy; six grandchildren, James Maness, Ayden Burns, Calloway Burns, Cora Burns, Caylynn Burns, and Cayson Norris; four step-granddaughters, Morgan Hite, Justina Hite, Anna Hite, and Shelby Hite; two brothers, Richard (Jane) Burns, Macy; and Daniel (Cheryl) Burns, Wabash; mother-in-law, Rosalee Linn, Macy; and two sisters-in-law, Linda Burns, Macy; and Barbara Burns, Florida.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Robert, John, and David Burns; father-in-law, Dayne Linn; and son-in-law, Stan Hite.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, October 16, 2020, at McClain Funeral Home, Denver, Indiana. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery, Mexico, Indiana with military honors presented by the Miami County Military Rites Unit.
Visitation will be held from 5-8:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 15, 2020, at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Macy/Allen Township Fire Department or the Fulton/Liberty Township Fire Department.
