Austin Michael Fletcher

Austin Michael Fletcher, 19, Peru, Indiana, passed away on Wednesday, November 17, 2021, at his residence.

Born April 18, 2002, in Peru, Indiana, he was the son of Wesley Michael Fletcher and the former Amber Marie Fisher.

Austin attended North Miami High School and Peru High School, where he graduated in 2020. He was an avid wrestler and spent countless hours pursuing and following his favorite sport.  He wrestled for both North Miami and Peru Schools and had played soccer for NM.  Austin was a proud father, announcing the arrival of his son to family members with a huge smile and great delight.  

Survivors include the light of his life, his son, Urijah Leon Fletcher, Peru; father, Wesley Fletcher, Peru; mother, Amber Fletcher, Lafayette; brother, Wyatt Fletcher (Ryley Working), Rochester; paternal grandparents, Cecilia (Thomas) Pierson, Lafayette; and Michael Fletcher, Lafayette; maternal grandmother, Taina Maffett, Lafayette; and paternal great-grandmother, Carol Fletcher, Lafayette.

He was preceded in death by a grandfather and great-grandparents, including a great-grandfather, Leon Fletcher, after whom Austin’s son was named.  

In accordance with Austin’s final request, the family has chosen to not have a traditional funeral service but to remember Austin for the nineteen years of wonderful memories and not memorialize the one bad day that ended his life.  The family invites all friends and family to share memories and favorite photographs on his obituary page at www.mcclainfh.com.  

A candlelight vigil is being planned in the future for friends to gather in remembrance and will be announced when details are available.
