Vern Stanley Eikenberry

December 10, 1937 — September 28, 2021

Peru, Indiana

Vern Stanley Eikenberry passed away peacefully in his home on September 28, 2021, in Peru, Indiana at the age of 83.
Stan was born on December 10, 1937, in his parents’ home in Peru. He spent his youth helping on the family farm and graduated from Jefferson Township High School in 1955.  Stan served in the military until his father passed in 1961.  Stan was an avid farmer retiring from Musselman Farms.
Stan married his wife, Donna Adkins, on April 5th, 1985.
Stan is survived by his wife, Donna K. Adkins; sisters, Helen Underwood (Harvey) (Rochester) and Jane Dobel (Bob) (Niles, Michigan); children, Troy Eikenberry (Susie), (Rochester), Trent Eikenberry (Regina), (Elkhart), Todd Eikenberry (Bob) (Safety Harbor, Florida), Justin Eikenberry (Josh), (Peru), Kevin Butler, (Peru), and Brett Damron, (Peru); grandchildren, Trevor Eikenberry, Shelby Eikenberry, Evan Eikenberry, Eric Eikenberry and Braxton Butler; and seven great grandchildren. Stan is preceded in death by his father Vern G. Eikenberry mother Nondus T. Eikenberry, daughter Michelle Williams and several other friends and family.
Stan was known by many, and he truly considered everyone to be family.  Stan was an amazing father and husband who always led the family with compassion and love in his eyes.  He was a man with a heart of gold who was always there for everyone he cared for.  He loved nothing more than sharing stories and laughter with everyone he met.  Stan always had a way to make a person smile, even if he was playing a practical joke on his wife or his neighbors.  Stan was a scare actor in his son’s haunted house and absolutely loved scaring alongside his wife, Donna, during haunt season.  He was never afraid to tell people how proud he was of all of his boys in all of the adventures life set them on.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 2, 2021, at McClain Funeral Home, Denver, Indiana.  Stan’s son, Trent Eikenberry, will officiate the ceremony.  Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery, Mexico.
Visitation will be from 3-7:00 p.m. on Friday, October 1, 2021, at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Riley Hospital for Children in Indianapolis, Indiana.  The family would like to thank all their friends, family, and neighbors for all the love and support for Stan throughout the years.  Stan truly never met a stranger, only a friend.
