Teresa Margaret Sixbey

Teresa Margaret Sixbey at the young age of 88, passed away at 7:58 p.m. on Saturday, August 30, 2025, at her Florida residence.

Born on December 13, 1936, in Peru, Indiana, she was the daughter of Ernest P. And Mauna F. (Piatt) Shultz. On December 30, 1955, at the Church of Christ in Kewanna, In., she married Maurice Dean Sixbey and he survives.

Teresa graduated from Jefferson Township High School. She attended the Chili Methodist church and the William Pouchie Memorial United Church in the Cayman Islands where she was in the choir.

Teresa was a homemaker but had many advocations: she helped on the family farm "Arrowhead Angus" Farm, was a 4-H leader, a cub scout leader, a member of Republican women, Indiana Angus, Peru Art Club, and Tri Kappa. She sang with the famous Choralettes and was also a member of the North Miami School board for many years. She loved to collect elephants and bird watch along with being an excellent cook, always a busy person.

Survivors include her husband, Maurice D, Sixbey M.D., Bradenton, Florida; four children, Robin (Sixbey) Skiles, Peru; Kenton D. (Jami) Sixbey, Bradenton, Florida; T. Michelle (Carey) Beachy, Sarasota, Florida; and Renee W. (Art) Low, Peru; eleven grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren; one sister, Penny Stapleton; one brother, Tony Shultz; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one granddaughter, Mikelle Amber See; four brothers, Edward Shultz, Eldon George Shultz, Donald Shultz, and Marion Shultz; and five sisters, Sarah Mikesell, Lois Deford, Pauline Wahab, Alma Sease, and Karla Wolfe.

Visitation will be from 3-6:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 6, 2025, at McClain Funeral Home, Denver.

The funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 7, 2025, at the funeral home.  Burial will follow in Chili Cemetery, Chili, Indiana.
