Schuyler Karl Wellsand, 96, Denver, passed away at 10:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 10, 2009 at his residence.
Born August 18, 1912 in Porter County, Indiana he was the son of Frederick and Rachael Covert Wellsand. On September 1, 1939 in Valparaiso, Indiana he was married to Orma Lucy Sandberg, and she preceded him in death on September 1, 2000.
He retired from the C & O Railroad as a signalman.
Survivors include a son, William D. Wellsand his wife Peggy, Denver; three daughters, Shirlee A. Murphy and husband Carter, Denver; Violet O. Rody and husband Paul, Denver; and Minnie J. Eckelbarger, Peru; one sister, Lillian Cain, Valparaiso; nine grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, and13 great great grandchildren.
Five brothers, five sisters, and two granddaughters preceded him in death.
Funeral services were private, burial was in Westlawn Cemetery, Denver. His grandson-in-law, Pastor Matt Haynes officiated.
Arrangements were handled by McClain Funeral Home, Denver.
