Sandra Tigler

Sandra Tigler, 76, passed away at 9:20 p.m., on Thursday, Jan. 2, 2014, at Caring Hands Nursing Home in Peru.

She was born February 27, 1937, in Twelve Mile, the daughter of Howard and Nellie (Glassburn) Slifer. On Christmas Day, December 25, 1952, at Bethlehem United Methodist Church near Twelve Mile, she married Billy Dean Tigler, and he preceded her in death on May 19, 2012.

Sandra was an inspector for General Tire for over 30 years. She was baptized into the membership of Skinner Worship Chapel. She loved spending time tending to her garden and flowers, camping, bird watching and tending to the needs and care of her horses. Her other loves included visiting with friends and family, reading and playing euchre.

Sandra loved spending time with her family, especially her children and great grandchildren. She will be deeply missed by three children, Darlene Reed of Rochester, Howard "Hoss" and wife Florence Tigler of Wabash and Samuel and wife Annie Tigler of New Waverly; six grandchildren, Cheryl and husband Brandon Loer of Columbia City, Mindy Tigler and companion Nick Wibel of Roann, Erin Tigler of Wabash and Sidney Tigler, Nathan Tigler and Emily Tigler, all of New Waverly; three great-grandchildren, Christian Loer of Columbia City, Kendall Tigler of Roann and Keagan Wibel of Roann; and a sister, Patty and husband Wally Cooper of Michigan.

She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents and two brothers, Howard "J.R." Slifer and Richard Weller.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday at McClain Funeral Home with Rev. Johnny Thompson and Pastor Tom Robbins officiating. Burial will be in Skinner Cemetery in Cass County.

Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to Emmaus Mission Central in Logansport.
