Rejene Tatum

March 28, 1923 — June 11, 2009

ReJene Howard Tatum, 86, sweetly entered into Eternity at 3:!0 p.m. on Thursday, June 11, 2009 in the comfort of her home in Mexico, Indiana.

Born on March 28, 1923 in Miami County, she was the daughter of Harry "Dutch" and Martha L. Cover Howard. On June 5, 1953, she married E. Dan Tatum of Pt. Neches, Texas, where they opened, owned, and operated Pt. Neches Pharmacy for twelve years. She was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church, Logansport, Indiana. In 1965, Dan, ReJene and their son, Tom, moved to their ranch in the Paris, Texas area where they raised horses and cattle. There, ReJene enjoyed being a housewife, mom, grandmother, and serving in Holy Cross Episcopal Church.

After the passing of her husband, on April 1, 1997, ReJene returned to Indiana in May 1999 with her son, Tom, to spend her last years. There she greatly enjoyed being close to her immediate family.

Survivors include three sisters, Nell Jane Fouts, Joyce Mounts, and Joellen Sharp, all of Peru; one brother, Jon Howard, Wabash; son Tom Tatum, Mexico; stepdaughter, DeRhon Jordan, Powderly, Tx; step grandchildren, Scott Tatum, South Lake, Tx; Dana Lipensky and Matt Tatum, Houston, Tx; and step great grandchildren, Matthew and Samantha Tatum, and Erin and Emily Lipensky.

Preceding ReJene in deather are her parents, husband, and stepson, Michael Tatum.

On Saturday, May 30, 2009 ReJene called for Tom's Pastor. She earnestly expressed her spiritual uncertainty, saying, "I'm dying, and I don't know how to die. I love God, and I love Jesus, and I don't know how to die." There, she was lead in a very heartfelt prayer, which yielded an obvious eternal peace and security for ReJene. Hallelujah for the Blood of Jesus!

Friends and family are invited to gather at McClain Funeral Home, Denver from 5-7:00 p.m. on Monday, June 15, 2009. A service will begin at 7:00 p.m. with Pastor Darlton Bontrager of Bethany Fellowship Church officiating.

ReJene will be returned to Texas to be laid to rest next to her husband.

Memorial contributions may be made to Hope for the Home Ministries, PO Box 975, Mt. Vernon, Texas 75457.
