Michael Rygiec, 58, of Peru, Indiana, passed away at 3:59 a.m. on Wednesday, March 26, 2025, at Parkview Regional Medical Center in Fort Wayne, surrounded by the love of his family.
Born February 1, 1967, in Athens, Greece, he was the son of Lysiane (Le Guennec) and Robert Edward Rygiec.
Mike worked for thirty-six years at Denham Building Service, Inc., and was most recently employed by Peru Community Schools, where he had graduated in 1985. He loved Notre Dame football, playing golf, fishing, and spending time with his family and friends.
Michael is remembered by his devoted partner of over three decades, Dorothy Musselman of Peru; his son, Derek (Amber) Musselman of Indianapolis; and his granddaughter, Sophia, who brought great joy to his life.
He is also remembered by his sister-in-law, Pixie (Mike) Denham of Peru, Indiana; his sister, Marilyn Lamb (Steve) of Maryland; and his aunt, Carol (Steve) Evonsion of Connecticut.
Surviving nieces include Lori (Judd) Hahn, Alisha Denham, Stella Rygiec, and Sophia Rygiec, all of Peru, Indiana. Surviving nephews include Gregory Minns, Zachary Minns, and Casey Minns of Maryland, and Drew Rygiec of Pennsylvania.
He is also remembered by great-nephews Brady Hahn, Jace Denham, and Jaxon Denham of Peru, Indiana, and great-niece Brooklynn Hahn of Peru, Indiana, as well as cousin Jeff Lesuk of Washington.
Visitation will be from 4-7:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 3, 2025, at McClain Funeral Home, Denver, Indiana. He will be laid to rest with a private family service on Friday at Greenlawn Cemetery, Mexico.
