Mark Jon Wilhelm, 73, Leesburg, and formerly of Miami County, Indiana, passed away at 3:50 p.m. on Sunday, August 9, 2026, at Lutheran Kosciusko Hospital, Warsaw.
Born June 24, 1953, in Peru, Indiana, he was the son of Walter and Mary (Bowman) Wilhelm. On December 27, 2002, he was married to Karen Sue Delawder Duncan, and she survives.
Mark graduated from Peru High School in 1971. He attended Ivy Tech and received two associate’s degrees. He had retired as a mechanical engineer from Hendrickson in Kendallville, and had worked many different places over the years, using his knowledge and skills to keep accelerating his career. He enjoyed fishing, riding his Harley Davidson, and playing golf. He was an accomplished musician, teaching himself many different stringed instruments.
Survivors include his wife Karen Wilhelm, Leesburg; three children, Matt (Kristi) Wilhelm, Peru; Daniel Wilhelm, Peru; and Makenna (Nick) Gottfried, Ft. Wayne; step-son, David Duncan, Roann; grandchildren, Braxton, Bryce, Ali, and Anna, Lauren and Abby; great-grandson, Briggs; brother, Dave (Marlene) Wilhelm, Frankfort; Mike (Patsy) Wilhelm, Macy; James Wilhelm, Florida;
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Patrick, Paul, and Chris Wilhelm; and a sister, Linda (Wilhelm) Shultz.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. on Monday, August 17, 2026, at McClain Funeral Home, Denver, with Pastor Tim Jones officiating. Burial will follow in Plainview Cemetery, Macy.
Visitation will be from Noon until the time of service on Monday, at the funeral home.
