Lyle Dean Davis, 67, Denver, Indiana, passed away at 11:22 p.m. on Thursday, October 22, 2026, at Parkview Regional Medical Center, Ft. Wayne, surrounded by his family and friends.
Born January 9, 1959, in Peru, Indiana, he was the son of Earl Dean Davis and Thelma Marie (Stone) Davis. On October 16, 1993, in Hicksville, Ohio, he was married to Tammy Lynn Warncke, and she survives.
Growing up in Denver, Lyle spent a great deal of time working with his dad at Davis Body Shop. He graduated from North Miami High School and Heartland Career Center in 1977. Lyle was a lover of all things culinary; he was a wiz in the kitchen and was very proud of his cooking skills. Over the years he worked at Busta’s Bakery-Peru, Clarks Cafeteria-Wabash; Woodlawn Hospital Cafeteria-Rochester; Warner Veal Farm-Twelve Mile; Lobdell Emery, ATF, GDX, Square D, and Living Essentials (5-hr. Energy).
Lyle was an active member of the Denver Community. He enjoyed helping plan Denver Days and running the Denver Car, Truck, and Bike Show for many years. He was a Denver historian and loved sharing the stories of his hometown. He was an Olympic champion at conversation and loved talking to people, remembering the past, and enjoying the tales of his life. He enjoyed playing volleyball, softball, golf, and skiing (in his younger years). He spent countless hours working outside mowing HIS yard, and sitting outside on the porch enjoying time with family and his grand-dogs. While visiting with others was important, that didn’t compare to time with family, and he loved traveling with his wife and daughter.
Lyle was a devout Christian and over the years he attended Olive Branch Church of God, Grace Pointe, and ALC. He not only attended church but shared his faith with others and was very proud to do so. He was also a religious IU fan and loved any sport being played by the Cream and Crimson! He was lucky to have lived long enough to see the historic and unprecedented escalation of the worst football team in US history to a national championship last year.
Survivors include his wife, Tammy Davis, Denver; daughter, Grace Marie Davis (and grand-dog Nash), Denver; brother, Alan Davis, Lafayette; sisters, Elaine (Gene) Hart, and Debra Murphy, all of Wyoming; and Lanice (Tim) Foltz, Roann; uncle, Lee (Caroline) Miller, Peru; aunt, Grace Louella Teel, Missouri; sister-in-law, Patty Taylor, Auburn; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents; step-mother, Mary Louise Davis; brothers, Steve Alspach and Ray Alspach; nephew, Lee McVay; mother-in-law, Jean McMasters; and father-in-law, LeRoy Warncke.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, October 30, 2026, at McClain Funeral Home, Denver, Indiana, with Pastor Dustin Smith and Pastor Dan Keaton officiating. Burial will follow in Westlawn Cemetery, Denver.
Visitation will be from 2-8:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 29, 2026, at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to Denver Lions Club or North Miami Athletic Department.
