Lonetta Rae Sopher

Lonetta Rae (Dix) Sopher, 70, Huntington, passed away on Friday, October 9, 2026, at her residence.

Born May 9, 1956, in Ohio, she was the daughter of Roger P. and Phyllis (Caryer) Dix. On July 5, 1980, she married the love of her life, Roger Dale Sopher, Sr, and together they had four children.

Lonetta was an ultimate homemaker; she did whatever was needed around the house, even if it was changing to garbage disposal all by herself. She loved listening to Elvis, completing diamond-art projects, and bargain shopping, having visited what felt like every single Goodwill store in Indiana (with Roger waiting “patiently” in the car). She was a loving wife, but that love beamed especially bright in the presence of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

A woman of faith, Lonetta attended church in Wabash and Huntington TLC.

Lonetta is survived by her husband, Roger Sopher, Huntington, Indiana; son, Roger, Jr. (Kari) Sopher, Muncie; daughter, Michele Vance, Kokomo; the lights of her life, her grandchildren, Brittni Wyatt, Kristina (Seth) Bishop, Michael (Maddie) Shockey, Jordan Wyatt, Autum (Chandlier) Birchfield, and Jakob Rose; the stars in her eyes, her great-grandchildren: Railyn, Raniyah, Dax, Braden, Theo, Jaxson, Michael, Aurora, Mailynn, and Parker; her siblings, Roger Lee (Judy) Dix, Debra Akers, Doris Lane, Karen (Moe) Cottrell; Dennis (Rhonda) Dix, George (Cindy) Dix, and John (Deb) Dix.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Roger & Phyllis; a daughter, Tonia Lynn Shockey; son, Robert E. Sopher; and a great-grandson, Xaviar Harvey.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
