Gregory Scott Fitzpatrick

Gregory Scott Fitzpatrick, 72, Denver, Indiana, passed away at 7:33 p.m. on Tuesday, September 22, 2026, at Lutheran Hospital, Ft. Wayne.

Born February 10, 1954, in Rochester, Indiana, he was the son of Thomas Henry and Grace Charlene (Clemans) Fitzpatrick.

Greg graduated from North Miami High School in 1972. After graduating, he joined the United States Air Force to serve his country. He returned to Miami County, Indiana, and worked as a lumber buyer for many years, working for several different local sawmills as well as being self-employed.

He enjoyed watching NHRA drag racing, spending time outdoors, watching horse pulls. Greg was never one to miss a good meal, and he never missed an opportunity to embellish the details of a story that he was sharing. He spent many countless hours with his friends talking about farming, the outdoors, tractors, heavy machinery, and maybe a few other random facts or made-up details he could toss into the conversation.

Survivors include his four children, Shannon Fitzpatrick (Russ Gamester), Peru; Thomas Fitzpatrick (April Lemen), Indianapolis; Joseph (Erin) Fitzpatrick, Brownsburg; Daniel (Brittany) Fitzpatrick, Chicago; nine grandchildren, Aleck Akemon (Lexy Loudermilk), Braiden Black (Hope Bockover), Shae (Kiana) Walker, Savannah (Joel) Austin, Izaak Fitzpatrick, Brenner Fitzpatrick, Brogan Fitzpatrick, Annabelle Fitzpatrick, Evelyn Fitzpatrick, and Jonathan Fitzpatrick; one sister, Deb Cadwallader, Wabash; one brother, Gary Fitzpatrick, Macy; one niece, Kasi Cadwallader; and loving friend, Barb Fitzpatrick.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, September 28, 2026, at McClain Funeral Home, Denver, Indiana, with Pastor Bob Engle officiating. Military rites will be presented at the funeral home home by the Miami County Military Rites Unit.  

Visitation will be from 3-6:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 27, 2026, at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to Miami County Military Rites Unit or American Diabetes Association.
