Conni Jo (Mickelson) Jumper, age 73, of Greentown, IN entered eternal celebration with her Savior and all those who passed before her whom she loved so dearly on October 10, 2021. On November 13, 1947, she began a beautiful journey of a life well lived. She was born in Kokomo, IN to Wayne and Dorothy (Mills) Mickelson and sister to Robert (Linda) Mickelson, Ronald (Kay) Mickelson, and Richard (Beverly) Mickelson.
Conni graduated from Kokomo High School in 1965. She also studied under Betty Hayes School of Dance from the age of 3 into her 20’s She was an established, esteemed, and incredibly talented performer appearing in countless Kokomo Civic Theater productions throughout her youth, along with numerous other appearances and productions throughout the Midwest.
Conni began her 43 year career with Kokomo Water Works (Indiana American Water Works Company) in 1966 at the age of 19. She retired in 2009. She never lost touch with her water company family and met with them regularly for meals and catching up, they were her dear friends.
On October 21, 1972, Conni married Jerry Newton Jumper in Kokomo, IN. They divorced in 1981. Joni Kay, Jon (Teresa) Jumper, Julia (Jason) Kendall, and Jennifer (Tony) Khatibi, Beth Anne (Shane) May are their adoring children. Conni’s pride and joy are her grandchildren; Emily Jumper, Ethan Khatibi, Cora Kendall, Charles Kendall, Eva Khatibi, Jack Jumper, Ella Khatibi, Cynia Jumper, Brooke (May) Walker, Blake May, Kaitlin Shoemaker, Sage Shoemaker, Tatum Shoemaker, and Greyson Shoemaker. She was also admired and loved by her many nieces and nephews.
Conni was met in Heaven by Senia Mickelson (grandmother), Wayne Mickelson (father) Dorothy Mickelson (mother), Robert Mickelson (brother) and her first love, her daughter, Joni Kay Jumper.
Her passion was creating a place to call home for her children, grandchildren, and friends. She was always designing, cooking, entertaining. She set a table for all to gather, laugh, and enjoy one another.
In the childhood memories of every good cook, there’s a large kitchen, a warm stove, a simmering pot, and a mom.
For all those who knew her, Conni was remarkable in every way. Her trailblazing legacy of strength, courage, love, and fortitude leaves us amazed and in awe. With our tears, there is joy and laughter because we knew her.
She would want you all to know, “But you, take courage! Do not let your hands be weak, for your work shall be rewarded.” 2 Chronicles 15:7
A time of visitation with the family will be from 3-6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 19, 2021, at Kokomo Zion United Methodist Church, 5051 E 400 N, Kokomo, Indiana, and will be followed immediately with a memorial service.
