Charlotte Lee (Sinkiewicz) Buczkowski, 83, formerly of Twelve Mile and South Bend, passed away at 6:25 a.m. on Thursday, August 20, 2026, at Blair Ridge Health Campus, where she had resided for the past few years.
Born July 18, 1943, in St. Joseph County, Indiana, she was the daughter of the late Casimer J. and Leona Faye (Overton) Sinkiewicz. On June 22, 1968, in South Bend, Indiana, she was married to Leonard Eugene Buczkowski, and he preceded her in death on July 22, 2013.
Charlotte graduated from Washington High School in South Bend. She lived most of her life in St. Joseph County, Indiana, and had been a member of St. Pius X Catholic Church. After the death of her husband, she relocated to Twelve Mile to be closer to family and became an active member of the Mexico New Life Church. She was a graduate of Indiana State Teacher’s College in Terre Haute and worked for many years at the Clay Township Trustee’s Office in St. Joseph County. She was an avid baseball fan (good baseball), and especially loved watching her grandchildren play, no matter what the sport…even if she didn’t enjoy it. She also loved watching Notre Dame women’s basketball, the Chicago Cubs, and St. Louis Cardinals.
Survivors include her three sons, Michael John (Kathy) Buczkowski, Twelve Mile; Matthew James (Jennifer) Buczkowski, Carmel; Steven Andrew (Julie) Buczkowski, Carmel; seven grandchildren, Brant Michael (Molly) Buczkowski, Whitestown; Brock Leonard Buczkowski, Twelve Mile; Brynn Marie (Braxton) Green, Twelve Mile; Adam John Buczkowski, Carmel; Samuel Smith Buczkowski, Carmel; Joel Benjamin Buczkowski, Carmel; Brian David Buczkowski, Carmel; one great-grandson, Ryder Dale Green, Twelve Mile; two brothers, Jim (Judy) Sinkiewicz, Berrien Springs, MI; and Tom (Margie) Sinkiewicz, Granger, IN.
A gathering of family and friends will be from 3-6:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 27, 2026, at Mexico New Life Church, with a Celebration of Life following at 6:30 p.m. Pastor Chad Chamness will officiate.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be directed to Mexico New Life Church.
