Patricia Cooper Obituary

Patricia S. Slifer Dickerhoff Cooper, 77, Rochester, passed away at 2:43 a.m. on Wednesday, October 9, 2019, at Hickory Creek of Rochester, where she had lived for the past two years.

Born March 21, 1942, in Twelve Mile, Indiana, she was the daughter of Howard and Nellie Glassburn Slifer.  She spent her childhood years in the Twelve Mile Community, where her parents owned and operated the local Ford Dealership, Slifer Motors.

Patty graduated from Twelve Mile High School in 1960 before moving to Napoleon, Ohio, with her brother, where she met her future husband, Richard Schramm.  Together, they had four children: Vickie, Dan, Brad, and Jeff.  She later moved back to Indiana and was married to Ted Dickerhoff.  They had two children, Jackie and Joe.  She was a member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Logansport.  Her favorite pastime in her youth was spending the summers at Nyona Lake, swimming at her parent’s cottage.  Patricia worked at the Cass County Government Building from 1977-1989.  She had a passion for life and loved visiting with people, spending time with her grandchildren and family, and being just a little bit ornery.

Survivors include her husband, Wallace Cooper of Morenci, Michigan; five children, Vickie (Rob) McElheny, Logansport; Dan Schramm, Texas; Brad Schramm, Michigan; Jeff (Estee) Schramm, Peru; and Jackie (Todd) Burnett, Gilead; grandchildren, Michael McElheny, Crystal Chandler, Charity Austin, Nikki McMinn, Julia McElheny, Bradley Schramm, Jr., Marrianne Reffitt, Jennifer Pickett, Jonathan Burnett, Derrick Burnett, Michael Dickerhoff, Baleigh Hendrix, Cody Schramm, Caitlin Dickerhoff, Todd Dickerhoff, Cassie Schramm, Allie Dickerhoff, and twenty-two great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one son, Joe Dickerhoff, three brothers Richard Weller, John Martin, J.R. Slifer, and one sister, Sandra Tigler, and one great-grandson, Christian Lee Chandler.

A time of visitation and sharing of memories with the family will be from 1-2:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 13, 2019, at McClain Funeral Home.  Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery, Mexico.
