Kimberly Ann Stapleton

Kimberly Ann Stapleton, 62, Peru, passed away on Monday, November 11, 2019, at Lutheran Hospital, Ft. Wayne.

Born November 14, 1956, in Tipton, Indiana, she was the daughter of Donald Gene Gillem, Sr., and the former June Ann Brown.  She was married to Clifford Michael “Mike” Stapleton, and he preceded her in death on March 19, 1997.  

She was a 1974 graduate of Peru High School.  She graduated in the last class from Kokomo School of Nursing, where she excelled and was at the top of her class.  For over seventeen years, she worked as an LPN at Miller’s Merry Manor in Peru, Indiana.  She enjoyed going to girls night, mushroom hunting, reading, watching tv crime shows, playing Aggravation, traveling, and spending time with her grandchildren and family.  

Survivors include her father, Donald Gene Gillem, Sr., Kokomo; two children, Amber Jenel (Scott) Russell, Peru; and Zachary Lee (Laura) Grimes, Peru; three grandchildren, Emilei Russell, Alexia-Ann Grimes, and Zachary LeeOscar Grimes, all of Peru; one sister, Victoria Gillem, Peru; and two brothers, Boyd (Lisa) Gillem, Kokomo; and Ronnie Gillem, Kokomo; three step-siblings, Jerry Chittick, Somerset; Brett Chittick, Wabash; and Craig (Rhonda) Chittick, Wabash; best friend and former husband, Vern Grimes, Peru; special Aunt, Shirley Chalk, Kokomo; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her mother, one brother, Donald Gene Gillem, Jr., and her husband, Mike.

Services will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, November 16, 2019, at McClain Funeral Home, Denver, Indiana.  Burial will be in Springdale Cemetery, Bunker Hill, Indiana.  

Visitation will be from noon until the time of service on Saturday at the funeral home.
