John Beachler Obituary

John Webster Beachler, 92, Mexico, passed away at 6:30 a.m. on Wednesday, June 26, 2019, at The Hearth at Stones Crossing, Greenwood, Indiana.

Born September 13, 1926, in Peru, Indiana, he was the son of Webster and Mildred Rawlings Beachler.  On March 23, 1946, in Peru, Indiana, he was married to the former Barbara L. Wolfe, and she preceded him in death on February 26, 2006.

John and Barbara were active members of Calvary Presbyterian Church PCUSA, in Logansport.  He was currently a member of the Presbytery of Wabash Valley, Presbyterian Church USA.

John was a United States Army veteran, having served in the United States and Panama.  He served in the Indiana National Guard for many years before retirement.  Upon leaving his military career, he went to work at the Indiana State Police Post in Peru, where he worked for several years as a custodian.

Survivors include three sons, John W. Beachler, II, and wife Nancy, Logansport; Stephen P. Beachler and wife Marsha, Indianapolis; and Marshall D. Beachler and wife Charlotte, Schoolcraft, Mich.; two daughters, Debanney "Debbie" D. Hay, Lafayette; and Kristine "Kris" K. Hite and husband Ron, Indianapolis; nine grandchildren, and sixteen great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Wilbur and Edgar Beachler; and two sisters, Margaret Saine and Elizabeth Bowyer; one son-in-law, Dennis Hay; and one daughter-in-law, Cindy Beachler.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 6, 2019, at McClain Funeral Home, Denver, Indiana, with Pastor Beth Ann Cook officiating and a flag presentation by the Miami County Military Rites Unit.  A time of visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.  Private burial will be in Ever-Rest Memorial Park, Cass County, Indiana.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Riley Children’s’ Hospital or the Miami County Military Rites Unit.
