Billy Joe Tyler, 75, Converse, passed away on Sunday, April 21, 2024, at Marion General Hospital.
Born September 30, 1946, in Peru, Indiana, he was the son of John Tyler, Sr., and Helen (Glassburn) Tyler.
Growing up, Bill shared his childhood with siblings, John Melvin Tyler, California; Sharon Tyler, Peru; Debra Wheetley, Peru; and Sandy Tyler (David Jones), Peru; who are all surviving. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his one brother, John “John Boy” Tyler, Jr.
He attended Peru High School before enlisting in the United States Army. He also served in the Army National Guard. He worked for Wabash Valley Refuse for many years. He enjoyed being outdoors, boating, fishing, and mushroom hunting. He always enjoyed a good meal, “That was pretty tasty!”
Other survivors include a daughter, Cheryl Berends (Dustin Faunce), Converse; two grandchildren, Brendan Alfrey, Carsyn Berends; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 1, 2024 at McClain Funeral Home, Denver. Burial will follow in Ever-Rest Memorial Park, Logansport.
Visitation will be from 11:30 a.m. until the time of service on Wednesday, at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to assist with final expenses.
