Robert L. “Pops” Lane, 69, Deedsville, passed away at 1:13 p.m. on Sunday, January 1, 2017, at Dukes Memorial Hospital, Peru.

Born December 17, 1947, in Edenton, North Carolina, he was the son of William Ernest and Pauline Cannady Lane.  On September 24, 1966, he was married to Marcia Kay Glassburn, and she preceded him in death on May 5, 1994.

He was a United States Air Force Veteran and a member of St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, Peru, Eagle’s Lodge, Peru; and the America Legion.  He was retired from Schneider Electric and had most recently worked Hoekstra Transportation.

Survivors include two children, Everett L. Lane and wife Shawnee, Deedsville; Clifford W. Lane and wife Bernadette, Peru; twelve grandchildren, Ginger Hill, Marcia Lane, Keith Lane, Bobbi LeAnne Lane, Bethanie Overton, Clifford Barrows, Kerstynn Solis, Kimberly Lane, Cole Lane, Alisha Mellen, Shelby Mellen, and Merak Mitchell; twelve great-grandchildren; one sister, Marion Evans, North Carolina.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by one brother, William Lane.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, January 5, 2017, at McClain Funeral Home, Denver, Indiana, with Fr. Mike McKinney officiating.  Burial will follow in Clymer Cemetery, near Bunker Hill.  

Visitation will be from noon until the time of service on Thursday at the funeral home.
