Harold Eugene “Red” Bell, 80, Peru, passed away at 4:18 p.m. on Sunday, November 9, 2014 at Lutheran Hospital, Ft. Wayne.

Born March 11, 1934 in Miami County, Indiana, he was the son of the late Bruce Francis and Esther Naomi Miller Bell.  On August 3, 1969 in Rochester, Indiana, he was married to the former Rita Ann Hart, and she survives.

He was a member of the New Life Church of Peru, Indiana.  A self-employed contractor, he also had worked for various contractors including Eads & Son, Harvey Miller, and Bellar Construction.  Harold was also a United States Army Veteran.  He loved watching car racing, especially Nascar and Indycar.  He attended races for most of his life and was able to attend the Indianapolis 500 for over sixty years.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by one sister, Grace Norman and her husband Dave, Macy; and one brother, James Bell and wife Ann, Roann.  Also surviving are many nieces and nephews, including Richard Robins and wife Jane, Denver; Robert Robins, Macy; Cindy Squires, Macy; Linda Martin, Peru; Robert Holland and wife Linnea, Peru; Kris McIntyre and husband Shawn, Rochester; Larry Dean Hart and wife Phyllis, Denver; and Trina Manns and husband Greg, Arkansas.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one niece, Janet Robins.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, November 14, 2014 at McClain Funeral Home with Pastor Carol Zumwalt officiating. 

Visitation will be from 4-7:00 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home.
