Florence Evelyn Murphy Greer, 94, Denver, passed away peacefully at Hickory Creek of Peru on Tuesday morning, November 15, 2016. 

Florence was born on November 28, 1921, the only child of Clarence and Bertha (Gottschalk) Murphy.  Florence graduated from Jefferson Township High School in 1939 and married Vaughn Greer on November 27, 1941 at the home of the late Rev. C.F. Golden.  They were married for 54 years before he preceded her in death in 1995. 

Together Vaughn and Florence had five children, Steve (Lorene) Greer, Denver; Larry (Susan) Greer, Lafayette; Rita (Russell) Seela, Springfield, MO; Dennis Greer, Kokomo; and David (Dolores) Greer, Denver.  Florence was blessed with fifteen grandchildren, the children of Steve and Lorene, Jewel VanDalsen, Jr (Tracy) VanDalsen, Jill (Mike) Young, Jane (Jeff) Mullikin, and Bob (Melody) Greer;  Larry and Susan’s son, Andrew (Laura) Greer; Rita and Russell’s children,  Craig (Amanda) Baird, Charlee (Andrew) Duff, and Alisha (Quincy) Narron, children of Dennis and Pat Greer, Jeff Hoover, Heather (Andy) Rentschler, Chelsea (Shad) Harth, and Britney (Joe) Grant; and the children of David and Dee Greer include Leslie (Chris) Hendrix, Lisa (Matt) Turnpaugh.  Also surviving are twenty-one great-grandchildren, Jordan Young, Maegan Young, Blake VanDalsen, Chassidy Hamilton, Mallory, Cameron, and Parker Mullikin, R.J. and Dugan Greer, Jack and Lila Rose Greer, Caleb and Alexa Baird, Kira and Kori Duff, Brenlyn Hoover, Baleigh Hendrix, Allie Dickerhoff, Savannah and Blake Rentschler, and Evelyn Hendrix, and four great great-grandchildren, Bentley and Dexter Hamilton, Kenzleigh Young, and Veyron VanDalsen.

She was preceded in death by one granddaughter, Laura Greer

Florence was a life long member of the Denver Baptist Church, where she served many years on the deacon board and as a member of the Homemakers Sunday school class.  She was also an avid baker and gardener.  The family would like to give a special thanks to Hickory Creek and Guardian Angel hospice for taking such good care of her in her final days, and to Pam Cover for her love and care over the last several years. 

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, November 18, 2016, at McClain Funeral Home, Denver, with Dr. Mark Spencer officiating.  Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery, Mexico.

Visitation will be from 4-7:00 p.m. on Thursday, at the funeral home.
