Ethel Marie Smith, 88, formerly of Macy, Indiana, passed away at 8:25 p.m. on Thursday, February 12, 2015 at Miller’s Merry Manor, Peru.
 
Born March 12, 1926, in Miami County, Indiana, she was the daughter of Clarence I. and Opal M. Hively Grogg.  She was married to Benjamin Franklin Smith, and he preceded her in death on July 7, 2001.
 
She was a dairy farmer in Miami County, Indiana, for over forty years and had been an active member of the Miami County Farm Bureau.  She was a fifty year member of the Order of the Eastern Star.
 
Survivors include her two children, Charles “Chuck” Smith, Macy; and Beverly Brown, Denver; five grandchildren, Jeff Smith and wife Nicole, Macy; Chris Smith and wife Crystal, Denver; and Jerry Smith and wife Heather, Macy; Brian Raber, Macy; and Haley Hilliard and husband Jaisun, Indianapolis; seven great-grandchildren; and one brother, John Grogg, Houston, Texas.
 
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Pauline Stokes and Gladys Grogg.
 
Funeral services will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Monday, February 16, 2015 at McClain Funeral Home, Denver, Indiana, with Pastor Julie Walker officiating.  Private burial will be at Gilead Cemetery.
 
Visitation will be from 4-6:00 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home.
