Carl W Hodson

June 3, 1928 ~ January 31, 2015 (age 86) 86 Years Old

Carl Wildon Hodson, 86, Peru, passed away at 11:05 p.m. on Saturday, January 31, 2015 at Miller’s Merry Manor, Peru.

Born on June 3, 1928, in Converse, Indiana, Carl was the last surviving child of Sherman and Margaret Ballard Hodson. 

After graduating from Converse High School in 1946, he went on to study at Butler University School of Pharmacy in Indianapolis.  After completing his studies in 1950, he served the United States Army as a pharmacist for two years before he returned to Indiana and began his thirty-five year career at Moore’s Rexall Drug Store in Kokomo, retiring in 1991 after a severe heart attack.

Carl was married to the former Pauline M. Lewis,  in June, 1958.  Pauline passed away  in May, 1990.  He  then married  Delores Leffel, from Mexico, Indiana, in 1991.  She preceded him in death on 5th December, 2014.

Carl was a member of a nondenominational Christian fellowship.

Carl was the dearly loved dad of Carla and Maurice Perry, New Plymouth, New Zealand, and David and Brenda Hodson, Columbus, Ohio, and much loved Grandpa of Kristi, Kelly, Kimmi, and Timothy Hodson, and Janelle,  Erica, and   Sherman Perry.  Carl was also a special Dad Carl and Grandpa Carl to the Leffel family, including three step-sons, David Leffel and wife Virginia, Peru; Steve Leffel and wife Mary, Ft. Wayne; Stanley Leffel and wife Jan, Tennessee; and two daughters-in-law, Margaret Leffel, Peru; and Cynthia Leffel, Perrysburg.

Carl was preceded in death by his 4 siblings, Richard, Helen Johnson, Robert, and Janet Austin. He is survived by one brother in law, Jack Austin.  Carl was a loved and respected uncle to his many nieces and nephews.  Also preceding in death were two step-sons, William and Tom Leffel.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, February 4, 2015, at McClain Funeral Home, Denver.

Visitation will be from 4-8:00 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Foundation for Nager & Miller Syndrome or a favorite charity of your choice, and donations may be made at the funeral home.
