Athur David Leslie

Arthur (Art) David Leslie passed away April 26, 2015 in the VA hospital in Marion, IN after an extended illness.

Born December 30, 1950 in Mishawaka, Indiana, he was the son of Russell R. and Martha M. Leslie.

Art graduated from Hauser High School in Hope, IN in 1970 after his family relocated from South Bend, IN in 1966. He attended Christ the King Elementary School in South Bend, IN before they moved.

After graduation, Art joined the Air Force in 1970 and served until 1977. While in the Air force, Art was stationed at Lackland AFB, TX, Elmendorf AFB, AK, Japan, Keesler AFB, MS, and Malstrom AFB, MT.

Art was an avid fisherman, hunter and outdoorsman. He loved collecting knives, guns and fishing tackle. He especially enjoyed hunting rabbits with his beloved beagles: Pepper, Harley, and Copper.

He is survived by his mother Martha Leslie who resides with his sister Julia Sonafrank and companion Jim Ireland, Denver IN, brothers Thomas (Delia) Leslie, Kirbyville, MO and Bruce Leslie, Pine, AZ and sister Dolores “Dee” (David) Greer, Denver, IN. Brother-in-law Mark Carrothers (Brenda), Kirklin, IN. Nephews Darryl Pugh, Craig Pugh, Tommy Leslie, Jonathon Carrothers, Nick Carrothers, and Brent Leslie. Nieces Kelly Russo, Racheal Leslie, April (Leslie) Deal, Leslie (Greer) Hendrix and Lisa (Greer) Turnpaugh. Great nephews Connor Pugh, Skylar Deal, Alexander Deal, Declan Carrothers, Timothy Hoffman, Dawson Pugh, Trace Pugh, Warren Russo, Lane Russo and Aiden Leslie. Great nieces Jessica Hoffman, Elizabeth Hoffman, Baleigh Hendrix, Evelyn Hendrix, Joclyn Carrothers, Quinn Carrothers, Lily Leslie and Josie Leslie.

He was preceded in death by his father, Russell Leslie, sister JoAnn Carrothers, brother-in-law Joseph Sonafrank and niece Laura Greer.

Honoring Art’s wishes, there will be no visitation or funeral services. Family and friends are invited to attend Military Graveside Rites presented by the Miami County Military Rites team at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 6, 2015 at Marion National Cemetery, where Art will be laid to rest.
